The renowned Dutch mezzo-soprano Jard van Nes will once again be giving masterclasses together with pianist Jelger Blanken as part of the Schiermonnikoog International Chamber Music Festival. The masterclasses will begin on Saturday 29 September and will end on Thursday 4 October 2012.

FOR WHOM
A maximum of 10 singers will be accepted for participation in the masterclasses. An initial selection will be made on the basis of the candidate’s CV and a demo cassette, CD or DAT recording. Works chosen should preferably be from the chamber music, oratorio or song repertoires. Prospective participants should be at least in the final year of their conservatory training or have already graduated; they should also not be much older than 32 years old. Auditions will be held preceding the Festival in the case of a great number of applications being received.

WHEN
The masterclasses will begin on Saturday 29 September with an introductory lesson, during which repertoire to be worked upon will be discussed along with other matters. The private lessons concurrent with the masterclasses will commence on Sunday 30 September. There will be two classes held each day in different locations in which Jard van Nes will pay special attention to vocal technique and Jelger Blanken will work on interpretation. These classes will not be public. Each participant will receive two technique classes and two interpretation classes. After the introductory lesson on Saturday, Jard van Nes will decide which singers also participate in the public lessons. These public classes will be held in the Nederlands Hervormde Kerk and will be open to all from Sunday 30 September.

COSTS
Each participant must pay € 375,- for the complete series of classes. This sum is payable to Rabobank account 36 70 20 424 in Bussum upon acceptance to the classes. The candidate's participation will only be confirmed once this sum has been received by the organisers. One half of the fee will be forfeited if the singer should cancel her/his participation less than two weeks before classes begin, except in cases beyond the participant's control.
Accommodation costs will be €275,-. This sum covers accommodation for six nights shared twin rooms, lunch and dinner included.
