International Chamber Music Festival Schiermonnikoog

The first edition of the annual six-day International Chamber Music Festival was held in 2002. Since then, the festival has drawn enthusiastic music lovers from all over Europe.

Throughout the festival, musical encounters take place in a unique location: the island of Schiermonnikoog. The intimacy of the island enhances the intimate character of the chamber music. For six days, audience and musicians are enclosed in a cocoon in which all the senses are awakened. Nature as the inspirator for art most certainly applies during the festival week: the salty breeze, the sea, the silence, disturbed only by the sound of birds, all bring the audience closer to the music.

Every year, the program features chamber music of the highest level, performed by approximately 45 musicians.

In addition to concerts and recitals, the program offers nature excursions, masterclasses and music documentaries.

The International Chamber Music Festival Schiermonnikoog 2012 will be held from 29 September to 4 October.

The Festival will start a series of masterclasses under the title of 'breeding place for young talent' from 16 till 23 maart 2012. Four masters,  Nobuko Imai (viola), Philippe Graffin (violin), Jeroen Reuling (cello) and Jan Wijn (piano) will come to the island to work with a total of24 students. Click here for further info.
